$80 million for Nokia from Seiko Epson to settle antitrust lawsuit.
Wasn’t sure what to make of this but it seems to be a story that keeps coming up.There’s some anti trust/price fixing thing going on apparently with LCD manufacturers and to settle those claims they’re all paying around $553 million in total apparently.
Nokia are connected with this as Seiko Epson are paying Nokia $80 Million to settle an antitrust lawsuit. I’m not familiar at all with the story behind this. The claim apparently was made in 2009 by Nokia. The Verge notes that the South Korean government has fined Samsung and Sharp for similar price fixing offences to the tune of $388 Million.
Engadget explains that apparently the group of LCD manufacturers ‘colluded to assure higher prices on LCDs sold between 1999 and 2006′.

Cheers everyone for the tip.
What you do today babe, he txt me? You? Nothing, I fucking slept. Think I stayed up till about 4.00am, decided not to go to church. Woke at about midday, and heard the rain, went back to sleep until 6pm. Now I'm up and it is after midnight. Poker Face was playing before.
How's Japan? I'm not here to sight-see, I told him. You can go back anytime, he said, and I can go on a tour to China. You can have the whole place to yourself. It's beautiful isn't it? Why so, I asked. It is the whole culture and tradition I think, he said. No, I mean why don't you like it? How did tonight's show go? Send you pics later, I told him.
You know, I wasted a whole lot of time writing letters to fucking Seiko, about my claim to own a Seiko automatic watch, which I say I designed and built. Do you have any idea how difficult it has been to perfect an accurate portable timepiece? You have to go back to 1759.
The Seiko Tsunami logo has nothing to do with this image.
There I said it. Other than the orientation of the wave and some
passing similarities, the two are completely unrelated. This is yet
another watch collecting myth that refuses to die. Now to provide
supporting evidence.
With a few vintage exceptions, Seiko's Tsunami logo is used on ISO rated
divers with ratings of 200m or more. A variant of the same design is
also used on 200m ISO rated Alba Divers:
Uuh uh. I'm not doing that, I said. Phillip, my cousin who was around when I was Christ, reckoned he could see the hands moving on my watch, he said. I told him, no, it's just a bit of jewellery, a bracelet. It is a Seiko. Do you know what Seiko means? No. Say Ko. What, Ko? yes it means love, in Japanese. You sure? I'm not sure of anything. I've been in Japan several life times. Shinto is my family's religion there. Once I left at 5 or 7 and went to China.
After her recent MTV Japan charity concert, Lady Gaga gave attended a press conference. She kept her eyes closed for the entire 10 minute Q&A. Painted over her eyelids were big fake eyes. Most Americans would easily identify it has “anime eye” make-up, but, as this clip from Japan’s NTV news shows us, the whole “anime” thing apparently isn’t so obvious to Japanese people:
Have you managed to look at any Japanese silk while you have been there, he asked me?
Once I lived there and became a Samurai, in fact that was my name. Once I made steel, and refused to sell my swords because the government offered me only 1/4 of the wage I wanted. Once I came from China, had two years to learn the language, and ended up running the government.
Once I organised the resistance to a Chinese invasion. I was a warlord in Hiroshima Castle once. Once my family lived in Sapporo and made pots. Once I made beer in big wooden vats, and added hops to the mix, but that is another story. Once my father and I lived in a castle, but gave up when men started crawling up vertical walls.
We should have dropped bags of flour on them. Once I married a Japanese
girl, and once I married and left to go and build the wall of China. It
is a long history, but all mixed in my mind. Then I went back to year
zero in Jerusalem, but not before I captained an aircraft carrier, and
surrendered to the Americans in WWII. If you did all that, you should
write it down, I said. I must, he said.
:) ??? ;) ? What, he said? One other time, I fought solo against a Chinese fleet, and had a business on the side selling telescopes so everyone on shore could watch the action while the Chinese dismasted themselves, he said. What? When was this? Not sure, he said. When was the telescope invented? And we also worked in a gold mine up north, and the men carried out their wages in the cuffs of their trousers. When the gold ran out I bought it cheap, because I knew it had a lot of "blue" silver in it and made a big profit, he said. Love your new hair color. Thank you, I said.
Wheen were you Admiral Lord Nelson, I asked him. You know, he said, in the Battle of Trafalgar. Actually I was two Admirals in that battle, I'm closer to a family member, Captain (Rear-Admiral) Henry Blackwood who was a strategist, and close friend of Nelson, who made him/me sit out the battle on the sidelines, and signal the codes for the battle, so I wouldn't get hurt. I can still bring myself to tears by thinking of Nelson's tragic death. The whole fleet was broken hearted. The battle itself was not left to chance. Our ships had copper over their hulls, making them faster, we had better tactics, better weapons and much better drilled and diciplined crew. It was a deserved victory.
Twitter: Tokyo Monster, you can have me. Don't wana be let go. http://pic.twitter.com/wIkUPoo
What's this babe, you love Tokyo too much to leave? You know, we in the north, Sapporo, think that Tokyo is a bit of a foul place, too much of a city to really reflect Japan. I wanted to go north in 1991, but I had two paintings to deliver to Mitsubishi Bank, and then my two week rail pass was short, so I headed for Hiroshima because I wanted to visit the Mazda factory.
Never found the right train line, so didn't get to the factory, but I
met an Aussie family, still remember the little girl Katie. It was easy to remember her name because of the Steely Dan song. Bad sneakers. lol. Japanese
Restaurant. We went to
Miyajima. It's fantastic. You can climb to the top, and see all the elaborate carving, tables, in cryptomeria timber.
They only harvet the trees when they fall naturally.
The deer run free and the people live behind the gates of their houses. There are monkeys at the top of the hill, apes? And the Itsukushima Shrine. more
