The given name Juniper is either in reference to the English common name for the juniper tree or berry, or in reference to a derivation of the Welsh name Guinevere. Juniper has historically been used as both a boys' name and a girls' name. Juniper has never been on the top 1000 list of given names in the United States but is an increasingly popular girls name likely due to the popularity of a wide assortment of well-known fictional works, including the cartoon series The Life and Times of Juniper Lee, the movie Benny & Joon (where the Joon character was short for Juniper), and Pamela Dean's novel Juniper, Gentian and Rosemary.

The Juniper tree's name is derived from the Latin word juniperus. In Latin, juniperus is combination of the word junio, which means young, and parere, to produce, hence youth producing, or evergreen.[1] Ginepro (Italian for Juniper), Ginevra (Italian variant form of Juniper), and Ginny are other names that also refer to the Juniper tree.

Juniper is used to flavour the alcoholic spirit gin. The traditional drink jenever and its French name genièvre are names for juniper. The French name was shortened to geneva, sounding the same as the place name, and further abbreviated to 'gin'.

House of Flying Daggers is a 2004 wuxia film directed by Zhang Yimou. It differs from other wuxia films in that it is more of a love story than a straight martial arts film.

The use of strong colours is again a signature of Zhang Yimou's work. Several scenes in a bamboo forest completely fill the screen with green. Near the end of the film, a fight scene is set in a blizzard. The actors and blood are greatly highlighted on a whiteout background. Another scene uses bright yellow as a colour theme. The costumes, props, and decorations were taken almost entirely from Chinese paintings of the period, adding authenticity to the look of the film[citation needed].

Zhang Yimou (born November 14, 1951)[1][2] is a Chinese film director, producer, writer and actor, and former cinematographer.[3] He is counted amongst the Fifth Generation of Chinese filmmakers, having made his directorial debut in 1987 with Red Sorghum.[4]

Zhang has won numerous awards and recognitions, with Best Foreign Film nominations for Ju Dou in 1990 and Raise the Red Lantern in 1991, Silver Lion and Golden Lion prizes at the Venice Film Festival, Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, and the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.[5] In 1993, he was a member of the jury at the 43rd Berlin International Film Festival.[6]

One of Zhang's recurrent themes is the resilience of Chinese people in the face of hardship and adversity, a theme which has been explored in such films as, for example, To Live (1994) and Not One Less (1999). His films are particularly noted for their rich use of colour, as can be seen in some of his early films, like Raise the Red Lantern, and in his wuxia films like Hero and House of Flying Daggers. His most recent film is a historical drama war film called The Flowers of War.

Ever since the phenomenal success of Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, awareness of both China's wuxia genre of films (Hero, House of Flying Daggers) and of Wudang Mountain itself have increased significantly. And each year, the amount of tourists visiting Wudang Shan increases by about 200,000, and with them come dreams of wielding a sword and flying through the trees.

What is your story. I asked him? Well the title of it isn't "You don't love me, so I hate you". And it isn't "I hate my mother and my father, and boys don't appreciate me so I must be gay".

Ginevra de' Benci (born ca. 1458) was an aristocrat from 15th-century Florence, admired for her intelligence by Florentine contemporaries.[1] She is the subject of a portrait painting by Leonardo da Vinci.

The oil-on-wood portrait was acquired by the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., in 1967, for US$5 million paid to the Princely House of Liechtenstein, a record price at the time, from the Ailsa Mellon Bruce Fund. It is the only painting by Leonardo on public view in the Americas.

It is known that Leonardo painted a portrait of Ginevra de' Benci in 1474, possibly to commemorate her marriage that year to Luigi di Bernardo Niccolini at the age of 16. However, according to Giorgio Vasari's "Lives of the Artists" (Second and Corrected Edition) Ginevra was not the daughter of Amerigo de' Benci but his wife.[2]

The painting's imagery and the text on the reverse of the panel support the identification of this picture. Directly behind the young lady in the portrait is a juniper tree. The reverse of the portrait is decorated with a juniper sprig encircled by a wreath of laurel and palm and is memorialized by the phrase VIRTUTEM FORMA DECORAT ("beauty adorns virtue"). The Italian word for juniper is "ginepro", which suggests that the juniper motif was used here as a symbolic pun on Ginevra's name. However, this pun is not supported by any contemporary historical source and the juniper stood as a symbol of sorrow, pain and loss in the whole of the Middle Ages. Therefore the juniper was frequently used in portrait paintings of widows. According to Maike Vogt-Luerssen the depicted (on the right) is not Ginevra de' Benci but Fioretta Gorini, the widow of the murdered Giuliano de' Medici. The painting was made by Leonardo in 1479/80.[3]

At the time, I didn't believe in God, so I never suspected something I had arranged, before I was born. What was that, I asked? She had a friend substitute for her one night, and I never knew, he said. Who,  said? Many, he said, her name was Jenny, but you know her as Oprah and Michelle Obama.

There's a few more, and some resulting legal cases which she is not prosecuting. Like, I said. Like Bruce White, Barry Wilkinson, and Jack Gemming, he said. When we were in Africa, Jack was a slave trader, White women one way, Black men the other, then he was a "tax collector"  in Jesus' time, in the Bible. He is his own son, his wife his mother. Yes I understand, I said. Aren't you afraid

None of those, I asked? But why put it in such a negative context?  I'm just giving myself time to think of a story and song titles, he said. This painting Ginevra de' Benci was painted for somebody in particular, he said. It is her face. Victoria, I asked? Yes, I painted it as Leonardo, although I could have painted it in any contemporary style.

And it isn't either the story of Lolita, which isn't, as I explain on my web site, the story of a man who lusts after a little girl, but rather the story of a man's imagination, who does not love his wife, but loves her daughter as his own, and proves to fall victim of his fears for her upon growing up, and leaving her safe home. or the story Wife or Death by Ellery Queen, of Dead Fingers Talk by William Burroughs, which  I wrote in 15 minutes while "suffering" from a lethal heroin injection administered by you know who.

More of that later, he said. Try another question. Um, have you created any other faces for people? I did clone a copy of myself for her, he said. Victoria, I asked? Victoria, Elizabeth I & II, Gertrude, Margory, Brigitte, Dianna King, possible some others, he said. Your present body, I asked? No, my cousin, Margot, he said. She's married, but clones can't breed. It is in my book if you want to read it.

You know, when you are engineering species, there always has to be a first pair. I can do the male role, in teh future, but unless I do it too, the female has to be actual real time, so that means you may be, animal for a day. Example, I asked?  Able was a male tui for a day and almost had his throat ripped out fighting me, he said. I don't think you want to put all your eggs in one basket. The Lyrebird is Victoria's, but not every species. It's frustrating, he said, when you meet someone, and they will not be frank and truthful with you. For example, I asked? When I was just out of high school I was living with a girl who went to school with me.

It was a birthday present from me to her. Which leaves us with a dilemma. In what way, I asked?

Leaving for Korea in less than a week baby!!!! Wearing my favorite t shirt today. It might be the raddest ever. That's cool he txt. Who be Selena? To you? Can I look? Go ahead, I tell him.

of defaming him if you are wrong? No he said, I still own the internet because Dragon still owns Sun JavaScript, even though Oracle claim to have bought Sun. It is not for sale. I'm getting over 23 million a day.

When I was China's First Emperor, I knew this wife swapping was going on, but I decided to stay married to the same "image" and educate her, no matter who she was inside. After I had an heir, they got rid of me, and then both sides mixed it up, so nobody ever knew who was with who, but presumably the ones who were married to each other. And their children, what a mess, I said. Yes he admitted, rotten. I'm not certain but I think Sheryl was my wife then, but I saw her again as an Malaysian woman in 2008 who I called the little Moon Faced Girl, because she knew me in Malaysia a few years ago, but I haven't seen her for over 2,200 years. You are kidding, I said. No, I have had no contact with anyone on earth for 2,000 years. It was all done before then.     more

So, what's your story, I asked him? Once upon a time, he said,.. That's not very original, I told him. No, it's traditional he said...there was just this Guy Living Alone on a Planet, so when his Father Met Mother, he Found Hinself Living on the Farm. Is this your story, I asked him? Not all of it he said. Don't worry, he doesn't get married, but I'll be back in 3,000 years for Judgement Day, so I'll see you again then. Good I said.
