Picture of the crush of the glass in the lower middle of the windscreen.
There is a small, 2 centimetre indentation in the bonnet visible as a white line in the middle below the broken section of windscreen, where the brick or rock hit the bonnet as the car approached slowly, deflecting the force of the throw.
It was my impression that the man was aiming at the centre of the windscreen and intended to throw the rock completely through it, shuch was the force he used. I think we were both equally surprised when this did not happen, and relatively little damage resulted. His stance was like that of a javelin thrower as he approached me coming down the road toward me turned side on. I could not see what he was intending to throw, although I knew it was something, because it was concealed behind his back.
I had to almost stop to avoid running into him because he was standing in front of my car, in the middle of a one way street, Church Street, outside Maketu Primary School. He had to move because I was approaching, but as I was almost motionless as I passed him, and I thought I had put my window up, but had lowered it, he had an easy shot at my face with his fist, and caught me squarely below my cheek bone on the right side of my face, leaving a large bruise which appeared a week later and was observed by the vicar at church. It also left a pea sized lump in my cheek just below the cheekbone.
