Perhaps you don't know who Jesus was? He is usually referred to as HE or HIM. HE is an historical figure, who is written about in a book called the Holy Bible.
The first part of Christian Bibles is the Old Testament, which contains, at minimum, the twenty-four books of the Hebrew Bible divided into thirty-nine books and ordered differently than the Hebrew Bible. The Catholic Church and Eastern Christian churches also hold certain deuterocanonical books and passages to be part of the Old Testament canon. The second part is the New Testament, containing twenty-seven books; the four Canonical gospels, Acts of the Apostles, twenty-one Epistles or letters and the Book of Revelation.
Mark 4:35-41
Jesus Calms the Storm
35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
So where does the story begin? Logically it should begin with my birth, Jesus in the manger, but we can come back to that. I've already written about life before I was born, when I was living, not far from here, inside planet Pluto, before we even knew that Pluto existed. It wasn't discovered until 1930.
So who was Jesus?
Matthew 3:11
"I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one
who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He
will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
John the Baptist Prepares the Way
1The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.a
2It is written in Isaiah the prophet:
“I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way”b—
3“a voice of one calling in the desert,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”c
4And so John came, baptizing in the desert region and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. 6John wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. 7And this was his message: “After me will come one more powerful than I, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8I baptize you withd water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
So why was I born? To do God's work? My earthly father asked God, "God, if there is a God, may I please have my son again in my next life on earth?" This happened at a time when animals lay eggs, and there were no male and female, but they still had a language, and it was possible to talk to each other without making sounds. There is a God, but it is not so simple that you can merely ask for something and it will be granted to you.
