Back in 1977 I flew from London, or Paris where my girlfriend at the time, Brigitte was, to the USA and ended up in Olympia at Evergreen State College. I had met Brigitte about Christmas 1976, because I remember we had a great dinner at a Chinese restaurant in Bayswater, not far from my room on Sutherland Avenue, Maida Vale. It cost me about £50 with wine, which was about a week's wages at the winebar on Wigmore Street The Prontefract Castle, where I was working.
